Coonplay is a Cattery of high achievement.
We strive to give the very best to our cats and kittens. The cats live with us, a family of 5, in our 3000 square foot home on 5 acres. We hope to have a large enclosed outdoor play yard for they cats by next year. The adults are extra spoiled while they take a rest, as they are shared with my sister in her 1200 square foot home and my parents in their 5000 sq foot home on 38 acres, so we can give all of them the extra care, break time and attention they deserve. All cats are tested regularly and all 3 homes are very particular about how the cats are cared for. We are all partners in this labor of love.
All litters are born at my home, and cared for by me personally. My parents and ourselves have the optimal large windowed South side homes with lots of sunshine for the cats to soak in. We believe a clean home to live in, is a healthy place to grow. We are all a Non-smoking family that live amongst the cats. We are care takers, affection givers, and play toys when the time is chosen. Our cats are our pride and joy and are as special as our Children. This is fully reflected in the kittens that come from our home. You are getting the best of the best.
Due to the high demand for our cats we have
found it necessary to become a closed cattery. With the number of visitors we were receiving on a daily basis, we realized we were risking not only the health but the
safety of our cozy home for our family and our cattery to live in. It is due to the unfortunate, but existant and increasing number of people with bad intentions
that we are no longer open for visitation.
There have been more and more cases of crime taking place in the home environment from internet connections. Some we have known of with personal breeder buddies, and though we do screen our candidates as well as we can, doing as much screening as possible to be sure of legitimate adoption homes. We have to be wary of the all too real people with other intentions. We have been informed of anything from kitten thieves to murderers such as happened to Mrs. Bobbie Stinnett.
We greatly apologize for any inconvienience this may cause you. We know this makes it difficult if you were hoping for a "kitten to chose you". In all honesty, it is a rare occasion that we have kittens older than 5 weeks that are not already being considered for adoption, or already adopted. There is an occassional few that are put back up for adoption for many different reasons, at a little older age, and there are retired adults once in a while you will see. But all in all, our cats and kittens alike are sweet loving purring mush babies. We breed for type and temperament first and size and color second. We strive to make dreams come true, one fur baby at a time.
